Well of course a formatted drive had less free space than the raw size of the drive. As well each partition uses some free space. Also as noted if you used the large drive formatting option the media partition will be about 300 mb smaller than if you did not use it.

At any rate that size media partition for that size raw drive sounds about right.
The non media partitons are listed in this guide above:

I was just wondering whether the remaining Media partion of 293 Gb isn&#039;t a bit small given the fact that I understood that the OSBoot and recovery partitions aren&#039;t that big on the original 160 Gb ATV drive.
